The Charleston Light Opera Guild and the Clay Center present LITTLE WOMEN in the Maier Performance Hall at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences on October 29-31 and November 5-7, 2021.
Based on Louisa May Alcott's beloved American classic, this Civil War story of love and family stands the test of time. Little Women has been produced nationally and internationally and follows the adventures of the four March sisters - Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy - with their journeys into adulthood and life. Intercut with the vignettes in which their lives unfold are several recreations of the melodramatic short stories Jo writes in her attic studio.
The 2005 Broadway production featured Sutton Foster as Jo and Maureen McGovern as Marmee. With buoyant, joyful melodies, memorable characters and a big-hearted message, the story reminds us that "sometimes when you dream, your dreams come true."
Little Women with a book by Allan Knee, music by Jason Howland and lyrics by Mindi Dickstein replaces the previously announced Guild and Clay Center co-production of "Elf the Musical".
