The Charleston Light Opera Guild, The Official Musical Theatre of West Virginia, and the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences West Virginia will co-present the beloved musical “Annie” on October 30, 31, November 1, and 6 - 8, 2026 at the Clay Center.
The musical, based on the newspaper comic strip “Little Orphan Annie”, originated as a musical on Broadway in 1977 and won seven Tony Awards. The bright tuneful score by Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin with a book by Thomas Meehan has become a part of our nation’s national heritage. “Tomorrow”, “You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile”, “It’s a Hardknock Life”, “NYC”, “Little Girls”, and “Easy Street” have entertained countless Broadway, national tours, a movie version, a television remake, international productions, and community theater audiences. “Annie” delivers a message about never giving up hope and is a perfect family show. The Charleston Light Opera Guild’s last production of this classic was a Clay Center co-production in 2011.
