Ring of Fire

"RING OF FIRE", The Music of Johnny Cash, is to be presented by the Charleston Light Opera Guild at Haddad Park's Schoenbaum Stage on Saturday & Sunday, August 14-15, 2021.

From the iconic songbook of Johnny Cash comes this unique musical about love and faith, struggle and success, rowdiness and redemption, and home and family. More than two dozen classic hits - including I Walk the Line, A Boy Named Sue, Folsom Prison Blues, and the title songs - are woven into a portrait of The Man in Black.

Conceived by William Meade and created by Richard Maltby, Jr., this promises to be a foot-stompin', crowd-pleasin' salute to a uniquely American legend. Though never impersonated, Johnny Cash's remarkable life story is told through his music by a cast of eight singers and an eight member combo.

Sponsorships by the City of Charleston, Alex and Betty Schoenbaum Family Foundation and Charles and Mary-Fayne Glotfelty Foundation enable the Charleston Light Opera Guild to present this musical show for no charge at the "Live on the Levee" outdoor venue.
