Return to Stage Protocols

We realize that there is no easy way to mitigate this pandemic and no guarantee that we can completely eliminate risks in this situation. However, we believe that we can take collective actions that will allow the Charleston Light Opera Guild to reopen to the public, both safely and responsibly. We believe these protocols will help make this a reality.

A more detailed version of our protocols moving forward can be viewed by clicking the document at the bottom of this page. However, a summary of those protocols during the pandemic is provided here.

General guidelines

  • Strong encouragement to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine.

  • Understanding the state of the pandemic, level of diagnostic testing required, identifying individual test positivity and exposure, and measures to be undertaken when that occurs.

  • Public health interventions for participants, patrons and venues, including masking, social distancing, cleaning and sanitizing are described in detail in the document.

  • Efforts to control COVID-19 must be collaborative and there will be an agreement, signed by all participants in a production, which outlines their mutual responsibilities during the extent of the production.

  • There will be specific recommendations for both virtual and live auditions that provide appropriate precautions.

  • Most importantly, there are specific and comprehensive recommendations for live rehearsals and performances that, hopefully, will give comfort to our actors, musicians, directors, tech staff and volunteers, as well as encourage cautious theatergoers to believe that a CLOG performance is safe to attend.

Please note that we envision this as a living document. We will learn a great deal in the coming weeks and months and, as further information becomes available, we will offer updates to share the most current information with you.
