Overview

This classic tale about a beautiful girl who becomes the companion of a brutish beast to save her father’s life, and gradually tames the beast with her love.  The show is brought to life in a lavish stage adaptation of  the Disney award-winning 1991 animated film.  The stage version of the show includes all of the wonderful songs from the film, written by Alan Menken and the late Howard Ashman.  Plus, it includes new songs written especially for the Broadway version by Mr. Menken and Tim Rice.  You will leave the theatre humming the catchy tunes that still bring capacity crowds from ages 6 to 90 to the active Broadway production.  These include Belle, No Matter What, Gaston, Be Our Guest, Something There, Human Again, and the title song, Beauty and the Beast

The Disney version of the story begins with an old woman, an enchantress in disguise, who places a spell on a handsome (but unloving) prince.  He is transformed into a hideous beast and the members of his court are transformed into household objects like clocks and candlesticks.  Belle, a young woman in a provincial French town, searches for her father, who has not returned from a trip to the local fair.  She discovers that he is being held captive in an old castle by the beast.  She trades her freedom for his and the “tale as old as time” begins.  The beast must learn to love and be loved in order for the spell to be broken.  But time is running out.  If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his court will be doomed for all eternity!

The show features humor, pantomime style, theatrical wizardry, classic songs, brilliant costumes, and beautiful sets.  It is truly a magical show for all to enjoy!
